THINGS TO DO
Tullyarvan Mill Hostel is the perfect location to use as a base to explore
the spectacular Inishowen peninsula. The hostel is on the main tourist
trial in the area the Inishowen 100, which is rich and diverse in heritage,
culture and natural archaeology. The stunning beaches are only minutes
away from Tullyarvan Mill, ideal for swimming and surfing. Ballyliffin,
Polan Bay and Culdaff are some of the best surfing beaches in Ireland.
The lively town of Buncrana is a 5-minute walk with a range of shops and
pubs, many playing local music. A range of activities from horse riding
to golfing, walking, cycling, bird watching, sea angling, yachting, surfing,
diving and boating are all available in the Inishowen peninsula, and our
friendly and knowledgeable staff will point you in the right direction!

Bird Watching
Bird watching enthusiasts will be attracted to the Hostel because of
its proximity to the protected bird sanctuary of Inch and Burt. It is
outstanding in terms of bird life, with seabirds in the summer and estuary
birds in winter. Inishowen is one of the main locations of wintering
grounds for migratory birds in Ireland.
Cycling and Walking
The Inishowen area includes some of the best hill walking, hiking and
cycling routes in Ireland. You're never far away from the ever-changing
colours of the Donegal landscape. The riverside Swan Park is 1 minute
from Tullyarvan Mill. With picnic areas, wildlife trail and ODohertys
Keep which adjoins the Buncrana coastal walk.
Game and Sea
Angling
With a number of lakes, high quality river systems and as one of Irelands
premier sea angling destinations, Inishowen provides a range of both
species and angling locations.
Golf
All around the Inishowen coastline are premier golf destinations offering
a number of high quality golf courses with scenic views of Lough Swilly,
Lough Foyle and the Atlantic. The range of links and parkland holes
at Buncrana Golf Club, North West Golf Club, Ballyliffin Golf Club and
Greencastle Golf Club provides a challenge to the most advance golfers
yet offers enjoyment to beginners also.

Historical venues
Fort Dunree Military Museum charts the history of Lough Swilly as a
port and its central role in key events of Irelands history, Inishowen
Maritime Museum and Planetarium preserves Inishowens ongoing relationship
with the sea and the fishing industry, Donegal Ancestry helps those
who wish to trace their family trees in Ireland, and the Isle of Doagh
Famine Village looks at the social history of Inishowen over the past
300 years (and they make a lovely cup of tea with scone bread!). All
of these excellent Museums are within a short drive or cycle of Tullyarvan
Mill Hostel.
Marine
Inishowen also attracts diving enthusiasts because of the many wrecks
in its surrounding waters. There are a couple of sub-aqua clubs in the
area and we would be delighted to put you in touch with local guides
and divemasters.
